Sunday was a bad night for anyone not interested in American Football.

A colleague of mine came home from the late shift and searched around the television channels for some sport to chill out to.

He turned on Sky Sports 1 to find live coverage of the Super Bowl. He switched to ITV and it was on there, too. Resorting to the radio, he tried Talk Sport which had live coverage of the Super Bowl. BBC Radio Five Live also had live commentary and so did the BBC World Service.

Are there really so many British people interested in American Football to justify such saturation coverage? I doubt it.
