A GREAT Bolton sporting tradition got underway once again on Saturday when teams in the Bolton Association cricket league renewed hostilities for the 121st year.
The second-oldest cricket league in the world - it is just one year younger than the Birmingham and District League - the Association is half of an historic cricket scene in the town.
The other half is the Bolton League whose teams were in the Association until they controversially broke away about 80 years ago.
While doom-mongers predict the death of the county games, you can count on seeing amateur sides locking horns on sunny summer days all over Bolton for many years to come.
