AS stitch-ups go, the one perpetrated by Bolton cricketer Ronnie Irani on his radio co-presenter Alan Brazil was a classic.
Former footballer turned tough-talking opinion-machine Brazil was making a typically no-nonsense point on one of these Talk Big radio stations which shape the nation's thinking, when Irani stopped him in his tracks.
Brazil was winning the popular vote as he harped on about the injustice of thousands of corporate spectators attending the FA Cup Final when only 50,000 fans of the two finalists had been allocated tickets.
Then Irani put a choice spoke in the works by reminding Brazil that he was going to the game on a corporate ticket.
A change of tack ensued as Brazil then gave a plug to his corporate hosts and spoke of the excellent food and drink which would be lavished upon him.
He didn't mention the game but he did say it was a shame that more real fans can't get tickets for the final.
It's a shame he doesn't walk the walk as well as he talks the talk.
