ON behalf of officers, committee and Members of Astley Bridge Legion Club may we express sincere thanks to all who made Sunday's Remembrance Parade so successful.
We would like to mention Wingates Brass Band for again leading our Parade, Greater Manchester Police for escorting us safely and efficiently, Rev Ben Woodfield and all at St Paul's Church, Astley Bridge for the Service of Remembrance, local Primary Schools, Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies and Rainbow groups all too numerous to name individually, all the musicians who entertained us throughout the afternoon in the Club without charge and all who attended and supported in any way.
Next year Remembrance Sunday will fall on Armistice Day itself, 11th November, 2018 and will therefore be 100 years to the exact day and hour of the ending of Word War One, a hugely significant anniversary which we are already anticipating will be well publicised and supported.
