THESE two photographs of familiar places in Astley Bridge will no doubt bring back memories for many of our readers.
The top picture shows Asda well before it was modernised.
When it was built in Astley Bridge, on the site of a mill, it was much admired, but not by the local shop keepers who feared they would lose much business to their bigger counterpart.
The smaller picture shows the Lawson Arms hotel in Astley Bridge which is no longer in existence.
