DRESSED all in black, The Slow Readers Club take to the stage to a chorus of 'Readers! Readers!' on Friday night at Ramsbottom Festival, the packed crowd of young and old's support clear from the off.
The music the Manchester four-piece perform powerfully delivers a cocktail of dance and emotion; a composed expression of paranoia, but one that makes you move.
The direct set flows from song to song, as their music and words express a helpless cry for aid, almost unwilling to reach for the saving hand, oh so clear in Block Out The Sun, 'someone save me, someone take me'.
Their dancey tracks are the depressive sound of death at a disc, but one nonetheless celebrated, as continued half-drunken shouts of 'Readers! Readers!' ring out between numbers. Their popularity evident, many having been turned away from the packed tent at Smaller Rooms Stage.
If Sunday follows suit, Ramsbottom's in for a treat.
