BOLTON'S stunning Victoria Hall will open its doors to audiences once again next month as it stages it first concert in over a year.

Bolton Symphony Orchestra will return to the town centre's acoustically superb venue to perform "Summer Serenade", a programme of light, summery music.

Musicians say they are beyond excited to return to The Victoria Hall, which has put in place covid-secure measures to keep players and the audience safe.

Nikki Lord, from the orchestra said: "This will be the orchestra’s first concert since March 2020. Little did we know back then how long it would be until we met again.

"We are so excited to be able to perform.

"For our Summer Serenade, the orchestra will be divided into smaller ensembles and the audience size will be reduced to keep everyone safe."

Music by Finzi, Richard Strauss, Boccherini and Joseph Bologne will be performed by the orchestra.

Nikki said: "We look forward to seeing our audiences again for some long-awaited live music.

"Two hundred tickets will be available to ensure social distancing, the hall can seat 1,200 people.

"This allows rows to be blocked out."

She added that to sell those limited tickets would prove a huge boost for the orchestra and live entertainment in the town once again.

Niki said: "Last summer, members of the orchestra recorded a ‘Mozart Mashup’, arranged by our conductor, Ben Crick, who will be conducting this concert.

"The musicians recorded their parts individually at home, and it was put together digitally to provide a lockdown recording.

" It provided some sense of being together whilst we were unable to meet in person, and the end result is light-hearted and conveys a sense of fun.

"We put it on YouTube where it can watched Mozart Mashup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvWKdfGjb1Q."

The concert is on July 10 at 7.30pm.

It is an hour long without an interval or refreshments.

The reopening of The Victoria Hall for live music comes as the Octagon Theatre reopened and the Albert Halls is set to launch its new season in August.
