AN inquest has opened into the death of a Bolton man who was found hanged at his home.
Nicholas Pilkington, aged 48, was found dead in the kitchen of his home address in Ellesmere Road, Daubhill, on June 14 this year.
Giving evidence at Bolton Coroner's Court on Thursday, police coroner's officer Peter Yates said: "Mr Pilkington had a history of depression and alcoholism.
"His situation had worsened in the weeks preceding his death."
Timothy Brennand, assistant coroner for Greater Manchester West, said a post-mortem examination was carried out on Monday.
The inquest was adjourned until September 20.
