THE funeral of firefighter Stephen Hunt will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at Bury Parish Church.

The 38-year-old, who lived in Radcliffe, died on Saturday, July 13 while fighting a fire at Paul’s Hair World, in Oldham Street, Manchester.

In accordance with his family’s wishes, Mr Hunt will be given a ceremonial fire service funeral with full honours.

The cortege will make its way down Bolton Street and into Bury town centre at 10.50am and fire service colleagues will form a guard of honour along the route.

Mr Hunt’s coffin will be carried into the church at 11am for a service for invited guests only.

The service will be broadcast via loud speakers outside and members of the public are invited to line the route of the cortege and gather outside the church.

Several roads in Bury town centre will be closed from 9.30am.

After the service, a private committal will be held for family only.

A book of condolence will be open on the day of the funeral in the fire service’s community event vehicle, which will be located in The Rock.
