THOUSANDS of people are expected to line the streets this morning for the funeral of Radcliffe firefighter Stephen Hunt.
The 38-year-old died after getting into difficulties tackling a fire in Manchester city centre on Saturday, July 13.
Several roads in Bury town centre will be closed from 9.30am, including Bolton Street and Silver Street.
Firefighters will form a guard of honour as the cortege makes its way along Bolton Street to Bury Parish Church at 10.50am.
The coffin will be carried into the church at 11am for a service, which will last approximately 45 minutes.
Only invited guests will be allowed into the church, but the service will be broadcast outside via loud speakers.
Members of the public are invited to line the route of the cortege in Bolton Street and gather outside of the church to pay their respects.
After the church service, a private family-only committal will be held.
A book of condolence can be signed in the fire service’s community event vehicle, which is in The Rock.
