AFTER a tough exam season one Radcliffe Riverside School teenager would be getting “grilled” in a different way — by enjoying a celebratory meal.

Emily Riley, of Chapeltown Road, was all smiles after achieving 11 and a half GCSEs, including six and a half at grade C and above.

The wheelchair-bound 16-year-old suffers from epilepsy, cerebral palsy and visual impairment and was ecstatic with her achievements. She said: “I was waking up all night thinking about results day. I was really nervous and was panicking this morning.

“But I am over the moon now and will be going to Nando’s to relax. I will be showing my personal assistant all my grades with pride.”

Emily’s favourite subjects at the school were science and ICT and she will go on to study catering and hospitality at Bury College.

Fellow student Abby Kennedy, aged 16, of Greenside Chase, was also celebrating after achieving two As and nine Bs in her GCSEs.

Abby will soon be donning her white lab coat and safety goggles to study biology, chemistry and environmental sciences at Bury College — with psychology thrown in for good measure.

She said: “I was delighted to have achieved the grades I needed to get into Bury College. Today has been stressful and it is good to know it is over.”

Music fan Jereth Fewing, of Boundary Drive, will be honing his craft by studying a level three BTEC diploma in music at Bury College. Jereth, who achieved five Bs, three Cs and four Ds said: “My best mark was maths — and that was a resit! It is good to know all the hard work paid off.”
