THERE have been many, many famous games between Wanderers and Blackpool but we thought we’d bring you one of the more obscure.
This friendly, in the summer of 1999 at Bloomfield Road, finished as a 1-1 draw.
It is not recognisable for many things – Wanderers’ goal on the day was supplied by Blackpool defender Paul Beesley who turned a cross from Ricardo Gardner into his own net.
The Tangerines equalised in the second half through Phil Clarkson.
Other than that, the 90 minutes was famous only because it was the debut for Olaf Snorrason – one of Wanderers’ little known Icelanders. He replaced a better known one, Eidur Gudjohnsen in the second half.
