FLY-posting is a relatively modern scourge, and while an isolated incident may not seem such a major problem, it adds up to quite significant blot on Bolton's landscape.
Bolton will become one of six councils to take part in a project aimed at cracking down on the problem.
It is hoped this will encourage people and companies to keep within the law by applying for advertising consent, and help the council secure bigger fines against offenders.
Hopefully, it will also lead to an improvement in the look of the town centre, which, when first approached, can look tatty and unappealing.
Fly-posting can put off potential visitors to the town, and anything that can be done to reduce it is welcome.
