BBC legal drama Silk, starring Bolton actress Maxine Peake, pictured, returned on Monday night for a third series with nearly five million viewers.
The programme, which also stars Rupert Penry-Jones, was watched by 4.7 million viewers, a 19.4 per cent share, between 9pm and 10pm, against 4.9 million (20.4 per cent) taken in by ITV’s DCI Banks, starring Stephen Tompkinson.
The 9pm slot also saw the return of Channel 4’s maternity docusoap One Born Every Minute, which pulled in 2.7 million viewers.
