POLICE are appealing for information after a footbridge over the M60 was vandalised.
The vandalism caused the motorway to be closed for several hours as a precautionary measure on Wednesday after damage was found to steel cables on the bridge.
The closures were in place in both directions from 8pm until 11.30pm between junctions six and nine.
Superintendent John Graves from the Trafford division said: "It is difficult to tell exactly when this damage occurred, but we have found bottles, cans and other debris in the area near the bridge, suggesting it may be a place where young people are congregating."
Anyone with any further information should contact Trafford CID on 0161 856 7679 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
