IT has come to something when a fire chief calls for a phone box to be removed because it is the epicentre of hoax calls.
The phone booth, in Blenheim Road, Breightmet, has been used many times by people calling out the fire brigade to non-existent fires.
One day there could be one hoax call too many and some innocent victim could die because of a hoaxer's lies. That is when the law should come down hard on those who make malicious calls.
