MORE students are opting to study engineering subjects, according to college bosses.
As National Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) week gets under way today, Wigan and Leigh College, which is attended by students in Bolton, is reporting an increase in the numbers of students opting to studying the subject.
According to the latest figures, applications are up 50 per cent for automotive engineering, 11.5 per cent in electrical and electronic engineering and seven per cent in mechanical engineering, for those aged 16 to 18.
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the options in STEM subjects.
