Lancashire's Queen of Puddings, entrepreneur Helen Colley, is set to get a Bolton-based business lecture series off to an appetising start.

Mrs Colley, founder of successful premium desserts company Farmhouse Fare, will open the 2007 Business Partnership lecture series at Bolton Ramada Hotel, Blackrod.

The successful businesswoman started her company from her parents' farmhouse in Gisburn, Lancashire 20 years ago and has developed it into a £10 million business, supplying Asda, Booths and Waitrose supermarkets.

The company now operates from its own 32,000 sq ft site in Clitheroe.

During her 20 years at the top, Mrs Colley and Farmhouse Fare have been showered with awards.

The company was won the IGD Food Industry Award for Outstanding Small Business of the Year while Mrs Colley was made the 2006 National Business Awards Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year.

As well as being managing director of her own company, she is also chair of the board of Unique - a women's enterprise agency - and a director on the North-west Fine Foods Board.

Tricia Calway, of the Business Partnership, said: "Not only is Helen one of the most well respected leaders in the catering business, she has also emerged as one of the country's leading entrepreneurs.

"I am confident the advice Helen will give will be invaluable."

The events are free and aim to offer business leaders from across the North-west an insight in to what makes leading entrepreneurs tick.

The first event will take place on Thursday, February 8 at 6.30pm.
