A SERIAL trespasser was jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted stealing two bicycles and a chainsaw from two garden sheds.

Lee Moran, aged 34, of Rupert Street, Great Lever, admitted stealing the £50 chainsaw from a shed in Lynton Road on February 16 and the bikes — together worth £400 — in a separate garden raid on February 26.

Moran was given eight-week jail terms for the thefts, which will run consecutively, as well as five-week sentence, to run concurrently, for stealing a pair of glasses worth £5 from a man on February 16.

Magistrates took into account Moran’s lengthy criminal record when passing sentence, as well as his latest offences committed while he was subject to a 24-month conditional discharge in relation to a theft offence in September 2013.
