BOLTON Citizen’s Advice Bureau has been selected to run a pilot scheme to provide detailed immigration advice for people who do not qualify for legal aid.
The local bureau has been providing immigration advice for more than a decade and is only one of a handful nation wide to provide the service which is regulated by the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner.
Until now that service has only been open to those who have legal aid, now it is being opened up for a non-profit making charge to others in a pilot scheme to charge specific services that are over and above the normal services CABs deliver.
The bureau stresses all clients will receive free initial advice on their immigration matters and services will continue to be free at the point of access, with fees only applied to those who request additional support and who are not eligible for legal aid.
