A TEENAGER has died after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car in Bury.

Ryan Whalen, aged 17, from Rochdale, was riding a Suzuki SV660 when it was in collision with a Mercedes in Rochdale Old Road at 5.30pm on Sunday.

He died at the scene of the accident.

Ryan's parents, Keith and Juliet Whalen, have paid tribute to their son who will be sadly missed: "Ryan was our loving son, brother of Chelsea and much loved grandson of Doreen and Brian Whalen and Betty and Jim Gough.

"Ryan was an ex-pupil of Oulder Hill Community School and was training to be an accountant at Millennium College in Bury.

"He worked part-time for JD Sports and loved sports in general, both watching and participating.

"Ryan was a keen Arsenal supporter and had a passion for motorcycles.

"Everyone is devastated by this tragic news. He was a loving, genuine lad who didn't have a bad word for anyone.

"Ryan will be sadly missed by everyone who he came into contact with."

A 17-year-old boy who was a passenger on the motorcycle sustained injuries to his hand and arm but his injuries aren't thought to be life threatening. Anybody who witnessed the crash is asked to contact police on 0161 856 3572 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
