IT is good news that members of a prostitution think-tank are to visit Middlesbrough to see how that town enforces a virtual zero-tolerance on vice and which has cut crime.

Prostitution in Bolton is managed in the Shiffnall Street red light area but in recent months vice girls have expanded their territory into residential areas, namely Great Lever.

Quite rightly, residents living there do not want to look through their windows and see prostitutes picking up men for sex.

So if Bolton can learn anything from Middlesbrough which can be used here in Bolton it can only be good news.

If Bolton can emulate Middlesbrough and reduce the numbers of girls working the streets from 200 to 15 then it will have been money well spent.
