KEVIN Davies is on course for his first double-figure Premiership goal haul since he joined Wanderers.

The Whites' striker, who expects to sign a new three and a half-year contract before Saturday's Reebok clash with Manchester City, still only has four league goals to his credit this season.

But Sam Allardyce believes that will change dramatically if Davies can show the same confidence and ruthless accuracy that saw him open the scoring after just eight minutes of Saturday's FA Cup demolition of Doncaster Rovers.

"Davo was terrific at Doncaster, especially with that first goal," the Bolton boss said.

"We've been striving to get him into double figures and that's another in the hat for him.

"I just hope he continues in that form."

Davies, who joined Wanderers in July, 2003, after being released by Southampton, has been a key figure in the club's success in establishing themselves as a Premiership force.

Although his contribution is measured in much more than just scoring statistics, his season's best league tally of nine, which he has achieved in his first year, is something he is determined to improve on.

Nevertheless, it was a contented Davies who looked forward to finally ending doubts over his future by signing his new contract, and told Wanderers TV: "I just want to get it sorted out, get it signed and out of the way.

"It's not all about the money, it's about playing football and I'm looking forward to the next three-and-a-half years of playing for Bolton."
