QUEEN Anne, Great Lever, Deane and Astley Bridge Elite are making the early running in an end-of-season Champions League competition.
Division Two winners Queen Anne top Group A after following up an opening-day 8-1 victory over Newbury with a 7-4 win at Hulton Wanderers, thanks mainly to a five-goal haul from Mark Truffas.
Great Lever have also made a perfect start to their Group B campaign, beating Darcy Lever 5-1 at home in their opening match before winning 3-1 at Moses Gate through goals from Damian Cansell, Tyler Powis and Danny Kerrigan.
Deane charged to a 5-1 win at Great Lever Wanderers in their opening Group C game before taking control of the group with a tight 5-4 victory at Queen Lizzy.
Ady Nugent and Tom Mann each scored twice for Lizzy, but the home side were denied by a Gaz Cunniff ha-trick and a double from Kris Preston.
In Group D, Astley Bridge Elite have scored 13 goals in their opening two victories. Chris Don top-scored with a hat-trick in their latest victory as they beat neighbours Astley Bridge 8-2.
