PUPILS at The Ferns Primary Academy in Farnworth have been keeping people updated on the latest events at their school — by publishing their own magazine.
The magazine, entitled The Ferns Academy Magazine, is produced by Key Stage Two pupils and members of staff.
It features articles on each year group, interviews with teachers and fundraising stories.
The idea came from Kathie Brunsden, a teacher who is also the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
Ms Brunsden said: “I thought it would be a nice idea for the children.
“It’s good for their literacy, IT skills and team work. I’ve always wanted to produce a magazine at our school — I think it has been a phenomenal success.”
As well as reporting, the children come up with story ideas and edit articles, which are printed in the magazine.
The group behind the magazine meets at the school every Thursday evening.
