FIREFIGHTERS are warning residents about the dangers of leaving burning candles unattended.
Crews from Bolton North were called to a shop in Halliwell Road at about 2am yesterday after a neighbour had mistaken a candle left in a window for a fire.
There was no one in the upstairs beauty salon and crews had to force open the door to blow out the candle.
Crew manager Mark McCourt said: “The candle did not catch fire on this occasion but it goes out as a warning to other people.
“Lit candles left unattended are a fire hazard so we would urge people to always be vigilant.”
