A MAN was rescued by firefighters after getting stuck while working on the roof of his home.
Crews from Bury, Whitefield, Leigh and Ashton-under-Lyne were called to the mid-terraced house in Manchester Road, Blackford Bridge, at 2.15pm on Saturday.
The man, who is in his late 40s, was not using a ladder while doing work on the roof.
He was unable to get a grip on the roof tiles and leant against the chimney while firefighters attempted to rescue him.
Firefighters managed to get him down using a hydraulic platform. The man was unharmed.
Carl Gibbons, crew manager at Whitefield fire station, said: “If people are working on roofs, they should make sure they use the right equipment.”
