A WOMAN from Great Lever is calling for people to take part in a sponsored walk tomorrow in aid of Diabetes UK.

Ila Shah, of Southbrook Grove, is walking in aid of the charity that helps support those who suffer with the condition, which her husband Nanubhai Shah had for 20 years up until his death in November 2012.

This is the second sponsored walk that Mrs Shah, aged 71, has arranged for the charity, and she is hoping that this year she will raise more than last year’s total of £3,164.

She said: “Diabetes UK is a charity close to my heart because my husband had it for many years before he died.

“It is a four-mile walk around Leverhulme Park so hopefully the weather will be nice.”

The walk is being held at Leverhulme Park tomorrow from 12.30pm.

To obtain a sponsor form and take part in the event, call Mrs Shah on 01204 535073.
