A CAR dealership will be a driving force behind this summer’s British Transplant Games in Bolton.

Bolton Kia, based at the Middlebrook, has signed up to become the official vehicle provider for the sporting spectacular which will see transplant athletes competing in an array of activities across the borough.

The four-month partnership between Bolton Kia and the Westfield Health British Transplant Games will see the dealership providing three vehicles for use during the event.

A new Kia Carens, complete with transplant games logos will be used by organisers from now until the end of the games on August 10.

There will also be two other support vehicles provided for use during the event as well as vehicles being displayed at popular spots during the games.

Peter Stanley, general manager at Bolton Kia, said: “We are proud to supply cars for use by event staff at this year’s Games and look forward in particular to supporting the Games, the NHS Organ Donor Register and charitable initiatives of Transplant Sport.

“The Games is a fantastic event for Bolton and we are excited to be involved and pleased to show our support.”

Graham Moore, chairman of the Games’ Local Organising Committee and headline sponsor Westfield Health, added: “We are thrilled to take delivery of these wonderful Kia cars, which have been made even more stylish with the Game’s crest proudly emblazoned on them.

“A large proportion of our work with the Games involves a lot of travelling between venues across Bolton so it is vitally important staff are able to reach them in reliable transport.

"The Games has been well received by local businesses and this latest boost will certainly help us to spread the message about the importance of organ donation and signing up to the NHS Organ Donor Register far and wide across the region.

"We hope that Bolton Kia’s example will help to inspire other local businesses to support this unique event.”

This year’s Westfield Health British Transplant Games will be taking place in Bolton from August 7 until August 10.

The Games are expected to feature hundreds of athletes — all of who have undergone life-saving organ transplants — to compete in a range of sports including archery, swimming, Track and Field and Darts.

The Bolton News has also launched the Sign Up Save Lives campaign urges people to sign up to the organ donation register, ahead of the Games.
