HISTORY was brought to life when a mediaeval festival took over Bromley Cross.
Inquisitive visitors marvelled at the living history pageant, which saw a 13th century settlement recreated in the grounds of the Last Drop Village hotel.
After sword-fighting, archery and armour displays, a comic pantomime known as a Pace Egg or mummers play was performed before knights took to the battlefield in a dramatic melee clash.
It marked the third Bromley Cross festival for mediaeval re-enactment group Tournée, which has been running for 18 years and recruits members from across the country.
Student Josh Almond, aged 19, has been involved with Tournée for one year and said he has always been fascinated by mediaeval histor. He said: “This is the best way to learn about and teach history — by living it.”
