WESTHOUGHTON CC made up a little ground on the Bolton League pace-setters as Kieran Edwards took five wickets in guiding them to victory on a day when the weather decimated the league.
The highly-billed clash of the top two between Farnworth Social Circle and Bradshaw was one of the ties called off without a ball being bowled and each took two points.
It was a similar situation for Kearsley against Little Lever, Heaton against Walkden and Greenmount against Astley Bridge.
But the St George's Oval side managed to get their tie against Egerton played and they won by five wickets.
Egerton struggled with the bat with only Daniel Partington (22) and Stuart Hornby (10) reaching double figures as they were all out for 59.
Westhoughton only needed two bowlers in the 23.1 overs with professional Qaiser Abbas taking 4-31 while Edwards was the star with 5-26.
The hosts made short work in reply with Atiq Uz-Zaman (19) and Abbas (23) doing most the hard work as the reached their total in 9.3 overs. Stu Hornby still managed to get 3-24.
It was a frustrating afternoon for most clubs but even more at Horwich where their match against Tonge only got started at 3.50pm.
Tonge won the toss and decided to field and Horwich posted 169 with Phil Carville 52, Chris Brownlow 42 and Baba Naeem not out on 50.
Ghulam Abbas was the pick of the Tonge bowlers 2-71.
In reply, Tonge were on 52-3 after 18 overs when rain stopped play at 6.50pm with Yousef Anwar not out on 23 while Naeem took 2-18.
Farnworth and Eagley managed to enjoy some time in the middle but were too frustrated by the rain.
Eagley managed to score 149-5 thanks to a second wicket partnership of 120 by Mohammed Salman (95) and Paul Rayment (42).
In reply, Farnworth were set a reduced target of 126 in their 21 overs, Adil Nisar was 16 not out when the match was abandoned at 7.40pm.
