A HUGE crime reduction operation was carried out on one of the police’s busiest nights of the year.
More than 30 special constables carried out the operation in Manchester city centre on September 19, as University of Bolton students descended on the city for ‘Freshers’ Friday’.
Chief Inspector Pat McKelvey said: “The operation was a great success and the feedback we have received from both the public and the Specials that went out on Friday has been very positive.
“The presence of so many officers on one of the busiest nights of the year made everybody in the city centre feel a lot safer and reassured, especially some of the new students who don’t know Manchester.”
