TEN extra nights have been added to Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights tour after massive demand for tickets.

Comedy fans jammed ticketing websites this morning and snapped up a total of 34,000 tickets to see the comedy TV hit live at Manchester Arena on January 31 and February 1.

Organisers were so stunned by the demand they announced extra shows will take place on February 2 to February 12, except for February 5.

Peter announced the live show revival earlier this week.

A spokesman for promoters SJM Concerts said: “These extra shows will take place due to overwhelming demand.”

Fans of the hit Channel Four show took to social networking sites to reveal their joy at getting the tickets, which cost between £38.50 and £60.50.

Others told of how they stayed patiently on hold for up to 45 minutes waiting to buy tickets over the phone.

Nathan Harlow, on Twitter, said: “Okay, so I got tickets for Peter Kay! Christmas presents shorted. I will get the ‘best son’ award!”

Proceeds from the shows will go to Comic Relief.

It is the first time that the full original cast from the award winning comedy have reunited since the critically-acclaimed show finished after two series, 12 years ago.

The show followed the rise and fall of wheelchair-bound scheming club impresario Brian Potter, played by Peter, and his band of loyal staff and regulars who will do just about anything to make his beloved Phoenix club a success, despite the odds being stacked against them.

Peter said: “Comic Relief has always been close to my heart and I always try to think of something.

“I could think of no better way to raise money and have fun then getting everybody back together.”

Phoenix Nights was first aired on Channel 4 in 2001, starring Peter, his long-time friend – and now TV presenter - Paddy McGuinness as doorman Max, Dave Spikey as club MC Jerry St Clair, Justin Moorhouse, Ted Robbins, Archie Kelly and Neil Fitzmaurice, who also co-wrote both series with Peter and Dave.
