A BOLTON bus firm is encouraging people to plan their travel during the festive season.
Arriva buses, which runs services across the borough, has joined forces with the 'Campaign Against Drink Driving', to design an app aimed at getting people safely from their destination.
The Arriva Bus App has a journey planner to help people find their best travel options as well as maps to show where the nearest bus stops are. There are also on-bus alerts with arrival times and messages of when to get off the bus.
Debra Heaton, marketing and communications manager from Arriva, said: “In the lead-up to Christmas when every penny really does count, travelling by bus can offer the most affordable way of getting around to see friends, family and colleagues.
"However, perhaps more significantly at this time of year, when excitement is high and we all start raising a glass to the spirit of the season, it can also be safest and most sensible option for getting where you need to go."
