A VAN overturned on the M61 between Kearsley and Clifton this morning.
The male driver of the van suffered minor hand injuries and has been taken to Salford Royal Hospital.
There were no other vehicles involved in the incident, which took place on the M61 southbound, Junctions 2 to 1, at about 9.20am.
A fire engine from Farnworth is currently at the scene, along with the police and ambulance services and the Highways Agency.
No lanes were closed because the incident took place off the carriageway.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "We received a call at 9.19am to an incident involving a van leaving the carriageway of the M61 southbound, Junctions 2 to 1.
"The Highways Agency is on site and has arranged for a recovery of the vehicle. There were no lane closures and there were no tailbacks as a result of the incident."
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We have taken one person to Salford Royal Hospital with a cut to their hand.
"We sent an ambulance, an advanced paramedic and a helicopter, which was not needed."
