THERE was extra reason to celebrate on Christmas Day this year for Rachel Smith who celebrated her 100th birthday.
Mrs Smith, from Westhoughton, is a resident at Woodlands Care Home in Atherton and was joined in her celebrations by her friend and fellow resident Elizabeth Keeley, who reached the milestone age of 90 just two days before on December 23.
The pair were joined by friends, family and staff at the centre in Woodlands Drive for the special celebration which included a sing song.
Manager Janet Hope said: “This was a wonderful start to Christmas and was enjoyed by all.
"The singers did a great job singing many familiar songs and getting everyone dancing and singing along.”
Beryl Verber, sister in law of centenarian Rachel Smith said: “It’s been a lovely afternoon and so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.”
