WORK is set to begin on a £96,000 scheme to improve safety on two bridges over the M6 in Lancashire.
The Woodacre Great Wood and Keeper's footbridges at Garstang, between junctions 32 and 33 of the motorway, will be fitted with reinforced safety fences around their supports to help protect them from the impact of accidents.
Work will be carried out on the M6 in both directions until February 18.
The hard shoulder will be closed for the duration of the works, while lane one will be closed during the day between 10am and 4pm. A 50mph speed restriction will also be in place.
