Manchester builder Rok, owner of Westhoughton-based Rok Durose and Gourlay, has teamed up with Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as part of a fundraising and training initiative.

Rok is working on an eight-storey office block in Bark Street, Bolton, for Gordon Moon Properties, which is expected to take 74 weeks to complete.

And for every accident-free week on site, the company and its 25 sub-contractors will each donate £100 to the mountain rescue team.

In return, members of the mountain rescue team will work with Rok on health and safety initiatives.

Rob Bath, Rok's regional leader for the North-west, said: "Rok believes in playing a part in the areas in which we work and this partnership with Bolton Mountain Rescue Team is a great way of doing this.

"The best thing about this initiative is that it is a two-way partnership and we will learn from the team while also helping to boost their funds.

"It is always good to be accident free, but on this project there is an extra incentive."

Garry Rhodes, team leader at Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, said: "When we first met the team from Rok, it was very exciting to know they were keen to work with us, but to make such a gesture as this is amazing.

"We wish them a very safe project and are looking forward to working to ensure they are best equipped to be accident free during their time in Bark Street."
