A BOLTON accountant has warned of a potential 600 per cent tax increase for "White Van Man" after April this year.

Tim Lwin, senior tax manager at Barlow Andrews Chartered Accountants, in Chorley New Road, said: "The changes could result in an unexpected hike in an employee's tax bill and an increased cost for the employer."

From April 6, the taxable benefit for private use of company vans goes up from £500 to £3,000, an annual increase of £550 per driver.

Mr Lwin said: "It does not stop there, if all the fuel is paid for by the employer, the average van man gets another tax hit of £110."
