ST Paul's Players, in Adlington, have had some welcome support for their next production, The Witches of Eastwick.

Jill Heeks, the publicity officer for the society, has been presented with a cheque for £250 from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The RBS employee was given the award as part of the bank's community cashback scheme, which rewards staff for their community work.

She said "My husband is treasurer and both my children have appeared in many shows for the players.

"I normally help backstage as well as my other duties, however, all four of us are on stage in the next production."

The Witches of Eastwick is a modern musical comedy with a black edge. Set in the fictional town of Eastwick, the story is based around the magical abilities of the three female leads.

Initially, their power is minor, but things change when they summon a devil-like character, the larger-than-life Darryl Van Horne. He seduces each of the women in turn, teaching them how to harness their powers.

After realising they are being coprrupted, the women resolve to exile him from their lives.

The musical is crammed with catchy songs and magical special effects, produced and directed by Liz Blundell and Jane Harrison.

It runs from March 5 to10 at Adlington Community Centre, Railway Rd, Adlington. Tickets are available from ticket secretary Lisa Cohen on 01204 4077984 or the ticket hotline 07722120740 and from mid February at Tyrers Coaches, Chorley Road, Adlington.
