AMANDA D'Argue is living proof of the value of research into the causes of cancer and potential cures.
Despite undergoing treatment for cancer, she will line up with 4,000 other Bolton women in the Race For Life, which organisers hope will equal last year's effort, which raised £220,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Those taking part experience a real sense of achievement on completing the run and in knowing that they have raised money towards vital research.
Let us hope that, like Amanda, the people of Bolton once again rise to the challenge and prove themselves to be among the most kind-hearted in the country.
