PUPILS from St Joseph's RC High School have boosted funds to take them to South Africa after an entertaining evening at Horwich RMI club.
Local soul band Brassed Off played and businesses including G&J Seddons, 3DK and Asda donated prizes.
The event raised £2,500 towards the £18,000 target of the pupils taking part in the Ubungani South African Youth Exchange Project.
After forming a friendship link last year with schools in Kwa Zulu Natal, nine pupils raised £16,000 to bring 14 Zulu children to Bolton for three weeks.
In July, the St Joseph's pupils will travel to South Africa and spend three weeks camping in the Tembe Elephant Park, visiting and teaching in local schools and helping to make improvements to school buildings.
