BOLTON'S schools towns football teams are looking for help to enable them to smarten up.

The three sides – the under-13s, u14s and u15s – are having to play in kits which are five or six years old and in poor condition.

Town team coaches believe it gives a bad impression of Bolton's representative teams, especially when they comes up against opponents wearing smart new outfits.

The teams play in the Greater Manchester Schools League and travel further afield in regional and national cup competitions.

Last weekend Bolton's under-14s made a 140-mile round trip to play Leeds at Wetherby in the English Schools FA Cup where they reached the semi-finals with a victory.

But while they played like a top team they did not look the part due to the kits.

"These are some of the best players in Bolton schools," said Vinny Baldwin who coaches the under-14s.

"My team won the league and the ESFA Cup last season and they are wearing below-par kits.

"We could really do with a sponsor to help us buy new ones.

"We really need new kits for all three of the town teams and, ideally, we could do with away kits too.

"I know it's asking a lot but these players are representing the town against other towns and it's important for them to look right.

"A kit costs something like £600 so for three teams, home and away, we would be looking at something like £3,600.

"The kits are scratty at the moment. When we play other teams their players look smart in their nice kits and ours have to wear kits we've have had for five, six years or longer.

"It's not good and we would appreciate a sponsor whose name would be on the kits for the next few years.

"We wouldn't be looking to change kits every year or anything like that so any sponsor would know they would have their name on the kits for a long time.

"And they would be helping teams that represent Bolton.

"It would be great to have someone from Bolton supporting the town teams in this way."
