PASSENGERS who use Moor Lane bus station will be pleased that the council along with GMPTA are to refurbish the toilets at a cost of £215,000.

The previous Liberal Democrat administration had tried to close the toilets but following a public outcry and a campaign to save the facilities led by The Bolton News the decision was reversed.

Bolton hardly has any public toilets left and it was important that the Moor Lane facilities were kept open for many travellers who use the bus station.

The refurbishment is good news as the toilets are very old and certainly not up to modern standards.

In fact, the council would do well to look at the provision of public toilets throughout the rest of Bolton town centre as, over the years, many have been closed down and not replaced.
