A 20-MONTH-OLD toddler had to be rescued from his mum's BMW convertible after locking himself in.

The youngster locked the doors to the sports car while he was sitting alone inside it. His distressed mother called firefighters, at 6.30pm, yesterday to rescue her son from the car outside their home, in Dales Brow, Sharples.

Firefighters had to break a window and put the boy's 12-year-old cousin through it to get the keys. They were then able to unlock the vehicle and pull the toddler out.

Crew manager Ady Taylor, of Bolton Central fire station, said: "He was just sitting bouncing around happily."
