YOBBISH behaviour and assaults at railway stations could be prevented by more use of CCTV according to Bolton North-east MP David Crausby.

The MP was adding his support to a House of Commons Early Day Motion calling for more cameras to be installed at railway stations.

Mr Crausby said he was concerned at increasing incidents of anti-social behaviour and assaults on passengers and station staff.

He said: "People need to feel safe if they are to be encouraged to use the train.

"I'm convinced that CCTV cameras can go a long way to deterring criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.

"I want the Government to make more funds available for CCTV cameras at stations."
