When and where did you form?

We are Some Kind Of Illness — an alternative indie band formed in April 2014 in Kearsley.

We combine alternative indie songwriting with an atmospheric, reverberant backbone to create a sound described as "calming" and "beautiful" by Vini Reilly (The Durutti Column) and Nick McCabe (The Verve).

What is your sound and who are your influences?

I would say our biggest influences are bands like Joy Division, The Verve and The Cure.

What is the biggest gig you have played to date?

Our biggest gig so far was headlining Manchester Club Academy. We have also played Zanzibar and Cavern in Liverpool and — in Manchester — Roadhouse, Matt and Phreds, FAC251, Academy 3, Night and Day café (first ever gig) and The Ritz.

If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?

It is definitely our ambition to make it professional.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully in 10 years, we will have toured the world a few times.

Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?

We supported ex-Inspiral carpets singer Tom Hingley recently, The Jackals and Pink Mountain Tops. We are good friends with Vini Reilly from The Durutti Column and have recorded demos with him. We have been getting lots of local radio plays and interviews and our album is on sale in Piccadilly Records.

Upcoming gigs?

Tonight at Night and Day Café Manchester for Indie Week Europe festival and then we go on a mini tour of Scotland supporting The Jackals (Edinburgh) in July, dates and venues TBC.
