A MAN was due to appear in court today after an attack which left a man critically ill in hospital with head injuries.
Detectives believe the 33-year-old victim was attacked at a house on Crompton Street in Farnworth on Thursday. He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital the following day after he was found staggering, dazed and disorientated around Bolton town centre.
He was later transferred to Hope Hospital, Salford, to be treated for a fractured skull and bleeding to his brain and his condition was last night described as critical.
Police have not released the victim's name and are trying to trace family members.
A 27-year-old man from Little Hulton was due to appear at Bolton Magistrates' Court today charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
