BREIGHTMET'S hopes of holding on to Premier Division football in the Manchester League next season were given a significant boost with a well deserved win over Hindsford.

Despite good chances at either end in the first half, the teams went into the interval with nothing to show for their efforts.

Breightmet started the second half in a really aggressive manner with four excellent chances in the first 20 minutes. But, as has been the case all season, their ability to take their chances was again lacking.

But Breightmet broke the deadlock in the 75th minute from a corner when the ball went across the Hindsford defence to find Ben Wells on the far post who just had to sidefoot it into the net.

Two substitutions by Breightmet after 75 minutes seemed to spark extra life into the side.

However, in the 82nd minute, Breightmet's young centre back was dismissed for a bookable offence, having been the last defender during a Hindsford breakaway.

Breightmet continued to press in the last few minutes and received their just reward when Dean Banks scored with only seconds remaining.

With other results at the bottom of the table going in Breightmet's favour, this result moves them off the bottom of the table and puts them back in the melting pot for survival, with a further five games to play.
