THE owner of a Bolton steelworks posted record pre-tax profits of £30.3 million - an increase of 54 per cent on last year.
Thirsk-based Severfield Rowen, which owns Watson Steel in Lostock, reported all core businesses performing strongly.
Chairman Peter Levine said: "The group's prospects are excellent.
"Our markets remain robust and demand for structural steelwork projects, particularly larger projects, continues to be significant.
"We have started the current year with trading ahead of the board's expectations and we are confident of further success in 2007."
Watson Steel has worked on contracts including Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 and grandstands at Aintree Racecourse.
Contracts for the coming year include the redevelopment of Wimbledon's Centre Court, an underground ticket hall at Kings Cross Station and the second phase of the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum.
